"Best in class"
Having had several tours with other companies before Amber Spirit took the experience to another level. Fraser was excellent. He ticked every box for knowledge, distilleries visited and gold medal service. I would highly recommend Amber Spirit. Without doubt a best in class experience. Awesome. Thankyou Fraser.
"A Great Day"
Booked a tour while we were in Scotland. 6 of us. Even the non-whiskey drinkers were impressed with Frasers knowledge of the region, the history that was even more informed than your can receive from distillery tours. We also started the day with claybird shooting which set the tone for the day. Would recommend to anyone. This is more than a job to him. It's his passion and pride!
"A day to remember"
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the day with Fraser, his personal knowledge of the Scotch whisky is a great asset to a wonderful tour, thank you Fraser, we will cherish our time with you. Barry and Norma Smith Australia
"A day in Speyside"
What a fantastic day Fraser arranged for us, with great attention to our requirements and a lot of surprises. Fraser was able to give us a lot of the history of the industry and background to the distilleries we were visiting, as well as some unexpected insights.
"Fantastic day !"
Fraser was a great host and put together a lovely tour for us. We all thoroughly enjoyed the day! Picked up and dropped off from our accommodation. Provided lots of drams ! very knowledgeable and friendly ... Perfect tour with a great host.... highly recommend. Thanks Amber Spirit
"Whisky lover's dream"
Booked this for my other half for Christmas as he loves his whisky. Had seen the reviews but weren't too sure what to expect. What a superb day! From an 8.30 am dram through to the final taster on the way home, this was a fantastic journey through local history and the story of the amber spirit. Fraser was full of insight, experience and knowledge and went out of his way to make this a really memorable experience. And that from someone who didn't think they really liked whisky. Suffice to say my other half is planning a return with friends- I was too lightweight, in bed by 9pm! Thanks Fraser. Wonderful day
"A wonderful day"
Booked this as a birthday present for my husband, who likes his whisky. Fraser planned a day for us to take into account our tastes, and what we wanted from the tour. We did one distillery tour and a visit to the cooperage in the morning, then several tastings at different distilleries after lunch. Fraser sure does know his whisky, and had a lot of interesting facts and anecdotes as we went round. He was also happy to advise us on what we might like and new and interesting whiskies to try, he's clearly passionate about the subject. Plus, he gave us a few additional drams from his own collection as we went round. An all round good day, we learnt so much more than if we had tried to do it on our own. Suitable for the expert or the novice whisky drinker. Highly recommended.
"The highlight of our trip to Speyside"
My girlfriend and I had been planning our trip to Scotland for months, taking great pains to pick hotels and tours that would make the most of our time while having the best possible experiences. Fraser definitely did not disappoint. We were able to communicate via email while we were planning and leading up to the day we scheduled our tour; He was clear and open about the possible distilleries we could visit as well as the Speyside Cooperage. Fraser provided us with an itinerary of our stops based on correspondence we had regarding the particular whiskies my girlfriend and I enjoy. The day of the tour, Fraser showed up on time in a clean & comfortable mini-van. He offered us water and biscuits before we made our way to the first stop. At each distillery, Fraser was well known by the guides and shopkeepers which made for a very personal experience. During our drives between stops, Fraser provided us with a wealth of information about the Speyside area, the older and new distilleries, the history of some of the properties they sat on as well as a detour around the new Macallan distillery still under construction. Even though Fraser could not book a tour of Balvenie (our personal favorite whisky), he was kind enough to make a stop there for us to take some photos as well as share a couple of drams of a Balvenie single malt from his personal stock. I'm not sure a TripAdvisor review can adequately convey how grateful we are to have met Fraser and the great experience his tour provided.
"A fantastic whisky based tour of Speyside"
Fraser picked us up as planned at 9.30am with the first dram in hand, who knew there is a breakfast whisky?
Our guide eased us from whisky to whisky imparting his deep knowledge of local and some less local distilleries and fully engaged with our banter and conversation.
We visited 5 distilleries and sampled a few of Fraser's own collection during our day. ample snacks drinks and lunch were freely available throughout the day with a good choice. We were looked after from the start to the end, Fraser dropped us at a local bar for dinner and offered to collect us should we fail to find a taxi after our meal.
Should you book Amber Spirit for your tour? yes, you wont be disappointed..
"Fantastic Whisky Experience!"
My girlfriend & I had a fantastic time with Fraser of Amber Spirit. The tour was the perfect length, planned out well, & was a ton of fun. We visited the Speyside Cooperage first in the morning, followed by 4 distilleries: Glenlivet, Glenfarclas, Aberlour, & Cardhu. Fraser had an ample supply of water & snacks in the back of the van, and bought us an array of sandwiches for lunch. He even brought a bunch of whisky from his personal stock to share with us between stops...usually at scenic spots throughout the area. We had a fantastic time on our tour! My only complaint would be that it was a little tough to get in touch over email leading up to the tour (after paying my deposit), so I was a little worried, but Fraser showed up at 9am sharp just as he said he would. Overall, I would highly recommend a whisky tour with Fraser & Amber Spirit!
"Fantastic day... :)"
Heard great things about Fraser prior to our Speyside tour, and we were still impressed once the fantastic day was over. Pick at the hotel in Grantown on Spey at 08:30 and kicked off with a very nice breakfast dram. From there, Fraser took over and led us though the amazing scenery and to a selection of 6 various well known local distilleries. At each distillery, many whiskies were sampled, but the best of them all were Frasers own selection. The back of the van was full, and between each visit, Fraser topped us up with some of his own favourites. This is a man that knows his whisky, how best to dink it, and the history behind it. He has a vast knowledge of Speyside and what it provides, and travelled far to expand his knowledge on a global scale. I've never met anyone who knows as much on the subject of whisky as Fraser. Away from the whisky, Fraser provided lunch, soft drinks, snacks, comfortable travel, scenic stops (test flight for new drone), pharmacy stops, and couldn't have been more accommodating. Very nice personality, and absolutely perfect for the day. There's a new Macallan distillery under construction in Speyside which I'm dying to see, and once it's open, I can guarantee I'll be seeking Frasers services to take us over.
Can only praise the day, and cannot think of how it could have been better. For anyone considering a Speyside whisky tour, look no further. You'll not be disappointed.
If you're reading this Fraser, thanks again for a fabulous day. Hope to see you flying a phantom 4 when we come up again.... Sláinte
Without doubt the highlight of our Scottish tour bar none. Fraser, our guide is a very knowledgeable and a whisky connoisseur who will tailor make a whisky trail either designed by yourself or on his recommendations. We opted for a full day but you can have two or even three day tours where he will pick you up and drop you off at the end. Honestly one day is plenty as by the end of it I was suitably "happy". As well as the tastings at the distilleries, Fraser will also give you wee drams of a few of his own favourites which he carries with him at all of the scenic stops along the way. He will also provide lunch which is all part of the overall experience and omg what an awesome experience it was too.
Make sure your first visit is to the Speyside Cooperage where the casks are repaired as it will give you a good insight into the whole whisky making process. Glenfiddich is a must visit too and one of the better distilleries in the area for tourists to visit, both the Cooperage and Glenfiddich are close to each other which helps.
When in Scotland you have to do a whisky trail of some sort and Frasers Amber Spirit in my opinion is the best, you will not be disappointed.
"Amber Spirit - Golden Experience"
My friends and I recently went on a three-day whisky tour with Fraser through the Speyside region. Thanks to Fraser, it was truly a golden experience. He was courteous, flexible, accommodating, reliable and extremely knowledgeable. Moreover, his attention to every detail was incredible. The "boot" of his van was always full of whisky and snacks, all of which flowed generously throughout the three days. And when the rain began to fall, he was there with the umbrellas. By the time our tour ended, Fraser felt like part of the family. We could not have asked for anything more in a tour or a tour guide.
"Best tour of Speyside distilleries"
Fraser took us on a wonderful tour of the Speyside distilleries as well as to some special and pretty places in the neighborhood in general. He knows the area and his whiskey. We had snacks, tasting of lots of single malts, a nice lunch , and learned a lot about the whiskey making as well as history. I would highly recommend this tour as part of your visit.
"The Absolute Best Tour company in the Highlands"
I was tasked with organizing a group tour of the highlands including distilleries and found this tour company on the internet. I am very happy I did. They were very accommodating and their proposed tour for the day was amazing. The 6 of us had the absolute best day ( from picking us up at 9 AM from our hotel to drooping us off at 7PM at the hotel) touring 4 distilleries, a cooperage and the countryside. I wish I had arranged another day to tour other parts of Scotland with them.
"Amazing Day in Speyside"
What can we say Fraser is an amazing tour guide with a passion for whisky. He happily shares his knowledge of the local area and local whisky with a very hands on approach. We never lacked for anything throughout the day including some of the finest local whisky. If you are looking for an amazing whisky experience in the Speyside area Amber Spirit should be your first choice.
"Fantastic whisky tasting experience with Amber Spirit tours"
We could not have chosen a better tour guide than Fraser for this much awaited whisky tour in the Speyside. His knowledge and passion for whisky is unbeatable. He looks after the group very well. Very professional and caring as well. All the 9 people in our group were very pleased as Fraser made sure out time there was well spent. He has many interesting stories to tell and take you to picturesque locations. He was also kind enough to book restaurants for our evening meal after the tour for the 2 days. Fantastic Fraser. A huge thanks to his partner who helped us.
"I highly recommend you contact Fraser"
If you are planning a whisky tour of the Speyside region then I highly recommend you contact Fraser. He put together a personalized three today tour for myself, my son and my best friend that was second to none. His knowledge of the region and the whiskies produced there is impressive. Along with the tastings at the distilleries we visited, we got to sample a few "wee drams" from his private collection while admiring picturesque locations in the region.
"Couldn't recommend more highly."
Booked the tour for my boyfriend's birthday. Couldn't recommend more highly. Fraser is an expert host. He looked after us superbly and his knowledge of whisky is boundless. A fantastic day, worth every penny.
If you would like to plan a whiskey tour of the Speyside region then I highly recommend you get in touch with Fraser at Amber Spirit. Going on one of these was a bucket list item for us and Fraser really delivered. We had a fantastic time. He put together a tailor-made tour based on our requirements and he picked us up and dropped us off at our Hotel in Edinburgh. His knowledge of Speyside and the whiskies produced there is impressive. He provided bottled water as well as a few "wee drams" from his own private collection. He even made dinner reservations for us a the local restaurants. If you are a small group and looking for a tour with a personal touch then look no further.
We visited Speyside for the sole purpose of a whiskey tour and Fraser's tour was great. Fraser has a passion for his job and the regions (and worlds) whisky. We were picked up from Elgin and really enjoyed our day. There was many drinks too be had both in the two distilleries we visited and at scenic locations through the region. We elected to do clay shooting and it was also great. There was also great snacks and water provided to us between activities. The transportation was new, clean and well presented. Given we visited on a Saturday off season we were limited on some activities but it was still a great day and represented great value to us.
"Incredible tour of whisky country"
Fraser Elphick is a fantastic guide, and a wonderful person. He absolutely saved my bacon after a long day of hiking, and took us on an incredible tour of whisky country. The depth of his knowledge and roots in the region are impressive. I hope to see him again one day. Thanks, Fraser. And also, your recommendation of the Bridge Inn in Aviemore was just what we needed after another 17 mile hike.
My husband, daughter, brother in law & I took a tour of the Speyside Whiskey Region and cannot say enough about how much fun we had. Not only does Fraser take you around to various distilleries while you are driving he plans little scenic spots for a dram as well as shares his vast knowledge of the whiskey world. He may be young but Fraser is a whiskey aficionado that is enthusiastic about this world and cannot wait for the opportunity to share it with you! He took us to the Cooperage and a few unscheduled stops as time allowed. He was prompt, professional and just a blast! The men in our group have not been on their whiskey journey long, but they learned so much about whiskey while tasting some the best Scots Whiskey available....Well worth the time and the money!!!
